JUMP STUDIOS TOPS AMONG 7 CANADIAN FILM WINNERS

LOS ANGELES, CALIF., USA – Entrants from Canada captured 10 awards in the 2009 U.S. International Film and Video Festival, including a first place Gold Camera Award. Festival entries came from 22 competing countries.
           
Jump Studios, Calgary, won a Gold Camera for “The Idea” in the Animation: Computer section. The company also won two Certificate of Creative Excellence awards for “NASCAR Spring Cup” and “NASCAR Nationwide Series,” both in the Entertainment division’s Sports and Special FX sections. Jump Studios specializes in design, animation, editorial, visual effects and original creative services.

90th Parallel Productions Ltd., Toronto, captured a second place Silver Screen Award for “The Last Nomads” in Social Issues and a Certificate of Creative Excellence award for “The Museum” in Arts. 90th Parallel Productions is well-known as one of Canada's premier high-end documentary production houses.

Blue Storm Media, Montreal, won a second-place Silver Screen Award for “A Passionate Builder: Laurent Beaudoin” in Corporate Communications’ Employee-Oriented category. The firm works in game design, education, behavioral psychology and software development.

LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario), Toronto, was the winner of a second place Silver Screen Award for “Shop Theft: Play it Safe” in Corporate Training/Safety.

Winning single Certificate of Creative Excellence awards were Cream Productions Inc., Toronto, for “Aftermath: Population Zero”; Science North, Sudbury, Ontario, for “Mysteries of the Great Lakes”; and, Panacea Entertainment, Edmonton, Alberta, for “Seeds of Change: The ECO Story,” all in the Documentary area’s Environmental Issues & Concerns section.

The U.S. International Film & Video Festival has been held since 1967 and recognizes outstanding Business, Television, Documentary, Educational, Entertainment, Industrial and Informational productions. A full listing of winners can be found here.
