‘MOZART 2006’ TRAVEL FILM HONORED AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

A short film designed as an invitation to the celebration of Mozart’s 250th birthday next year in Austria won a First Place Gold Camera award and was a nominee for Best of Festival at the 2005 U.S. International Film And Video Festival.

"Mozart 2006, 250 Anniversary - Austria Celebrates the Genius!" was written and directed by Curt Faudon of Faudon Movies, New York City, for client-sponsors ARGE Mozart 2006 (Vienna Tourist Board, Salzburg City Tourist Board, Salzburg State Tourist Office and Austrian Tourist Office, Inc.) and Echo Agentur, Vienna.

Faudon, a native Austrian, and Peter Katz, Market Manager Western USA for the Austrian Tourist Office Inc., screened the film June 4th during the festival’s awards event.

The production blends old and new by recreating scenes of Mozart’s life and moving seamlessly from a period setting as it must have been in Mozart’s time into the same location being visited by current-day tourists. Mozart’s music is complemented by a modern score.

“Mozart” used 380 extras and the talents of the Vienna State Opera. Faudon opens the production with a scene set on the day of Mozart’s birth and takes the viewer along with the composer throughout the authentic locations in Salzburg and Vienna as his musical genius is recognized.

“We didn’t want a travelogue,” Katz said. “We wanted a work that would inspire a viewer to say, ‘I want to go. Curt Faudon certainly achieved that goal.’”

In fact, one of the judges for the Travel and Transportation category wrote on the scoring sheet: “I want to go.” Other judges commented on the success of the musical transitions from classical to modern. The film will be distributed worldwide by the ARGE Mozart2006 to both television and cable outlets as well as being used for all of the activities throughout the world promoting the Mozart Year 2006.

The festival received entries from 30 countries.
