LOS ANGELES – Austrian filmmakers scored high at the U.S. International Film And Video Festival taking home two Gold Camera First Place Awards, two Silver Screen Second Place awards and three Certificates for Creative Excellence.

ORF NHU, Vienna, and Vogel Audiovision, Linz, each won two awards.

ORF NHU won a Gold Camera award for its “Ants – Nature’s Secret Power” entry in Sciences, Research and Exploration. Christopher Stallybrass of Adi Mayer’s Filmbüro accepted the award.

ORF NHU’s second award was a Silver Screen received for its docu-drama, “Genghis Khan - Rider of the Apocalypse.”

The other Gold Camera went to ARGE Mozart 2006 and Echo Agentur, Vienna, for “Mozart 2006 250th Anniversary – Austria Celebrates the Genius!”

“Mozart 2006,” produced and directed by native Austrian Curt Faudon of Faudon Movies, New York City, also was one of three nominees for the Best of Festival-Grand Prix award.

Faudon and Peter Katz, Market Manager Western USA for the Austrian Tourist Office Inc., screened the Mozart film June 4 during the festival’s awards event and also accept the award.

“We didn’t want a travelogue,” Katz said at the ceremony. “We wanted a work that would inspire a viewer to say, ‘I want to go.’ Curt Faudon certainly achieved that goal.”

In fact, one of the judges for the Travel and Transportation category wrote on the scoring sheet: “I want to go,” a Festival spokesperson said.

Vogel Audiovision received a Silver Screen for “BMW Plant Tour” done for BMW Motoren GmbH/Steyr. The company also won a Certificate of Creative Excellence for “Young Employees,” a recruiting film produced for Sandoz GmbH, Vienna.
