UK ENTRIES WIN 26 AWARDS IN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL LOS ANGELES - Shooting Pictures production company of London has won two Gold Camera and two Silver Screen awards in the 2003 U.S. International Film And Video Festival. Altogether, entries from the United Kingdom won nine Gold and 17 Silver awards. The competition received more than 1,500 entries from 28 countries. A total of 64 Gold Camera Awards and 92 Silver Screen Awards were given. Shooting Pictures won a Gold in Editing for and a Silver in Safety-General Public category for its "More Than PG? Get ID!" production for the Video Standards Council. The video depicts underage customers trying to get their hands on videos and games they are too young to access. The company's second Gold was in Corporate Communications for Topman stores. The second Silver was in Editing for a sales video for Clarks. COI Communications, London, received a Gold Camera and two Silver Screen awards in Television Advertising-Public Service Announcements. It won a Gold for "More Time," a video for the Food Standards Agency that tries to persuade people, particularly younger men, to cook barbeque food thoroughly. COI's Silver awards were for "Notice Me," about the danger of fireworks, done for the Department of Trade and Industry, London, and "Mobile Phone ? Text," aimed at discouraging phone use during driving done for DTLR, London. Razor Productions of Headcorn, Kent, won three Silver awards. A promotion video for Oracle & Oz's mobile e-business suite, "How to Get Filthy Rich," won in Specialty Publications and Writing, Concept. The company also won a Silver in Corporate Communications for "A Recipe for Success," highlighting the success of ACH Foods. Jack Morton Worldwide, London, won a Gold in the Corporate Communications-Employee Oriented subcategory for "Vision & Celebration," which articulated the challenges of the people served by the Department for Work & Pensions, Sheffield. It received a Silver award in Advertising Promotion for "Right Person, Right Job," highlighting the Department of Work's Jobcentre Plus organization. Uden Associates, London, won a Gold in Public Relations for film telling the story of the winners in the 10th Rolex Awards for Enterprise, and a Silver in Corporate Communications for a film highlighting the work of designers for Samsung in Europe. In addition to the above, UK winners were: Advertising, Sales, Sales Promotion, Marketing: Silver Screen given to Impact Image, Cranleigh, Surry, for a special feature for Eurofighter's exhibition at the Farnborough Airshow 2002. Arts-Music Videos: Gold award won by Music on Earth Productions, London, for the story of Staphane Grappelli's 77-year career in jazz. Community Development: Gold won by World Wide Pictures, London, for "Changing Neighborhoods, Changing Lives" about the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, done for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Corporate Communications: Silver received by Jacaranda Productions, London, film highlighting social responsibility of the mining operations of Rio Tinto, London. Medicine, Health: Gold won by UCL Images, London, for a program exploring what happened when a clinical team failed to follow government guidance when administering intrathecal chemotherapy. The production was sponsored by HM Government Department of Health. Motivational, Inspirational: Silver won by Image Resource, Rolls-Royce plc, United Kingdom, for piece on supply chain restructuring. Presentations created for Visitor Centers, Museums and other public venues: Silver received by Now Watch It! Ltd., London, for film highlighting the U.S. Army's future done for BAE Systems, Arlington, Va., USA. Public Relations-Nonprofit: Silver won by The Accidental Film Co. Ltd., London, for its video for Battersea Dogs Home, London. Recreations, Sports, Hobbies, Crafts: Silver won by Carlton Television, Nottingham, for one of a 13-part series showcasing arts and crafts. Specialty Productions: Silver received by Communicator Ltd., London, for film on Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., Raptor product. Training & Education - Business, Government: Gold won by Take 3 Productions, London, for UK assport Service film explaining the passport process. Silver won by Video Arts, London, for a film on how easy it can be to handle various personalities at meetings. Production Tree, London, produced the film. The awards are to be presented June 6 during ceremonies in Manhattan Beach, Calif. The competition is in its 36th year and is recognized as one of the world's leading events for Business, Television, Documentary, Industrial, and Informational and Entertainment productions. Lee W.
