This film reveals the extraordnary diaries of Fredrich Kellner - a non-jew political activist who tried desperately to stop the Nazis from obtaining power. As a governement clerk he repeatedly refused to join the Nazi Party - even at personal risk to his wife and to himself and kept a diary of the atrocities he witnessed. To avoid having his son join the Nazi youth party he sent him to America where years later he would marry a Jewish woman. Friedrich's grandson Robert Scott Kellner would, as a results of various circumstances, be raised at an orphanage. This film re-traces Robert Scott's trip to Germany where he will tell his grandfather's story - a man who risked his life to record one of the ost horrific atrocities of the western world.
